Revit crashes when I click the open file button in the opening screen

Hi all,

Hopefully you can help me. I've looked around for a solution to this problem, but to no avail.

This problem only started happening today. I'm using Revit 2014 right now, and I open the program, which boots up fine. When I get to the start screen where you can start new project, open family etc etc etc or if I'm working on a family, if I click on the open file button Revit becomes unresponsive and I have to force close the thing.

To run you down on what I've tried...reinstalled Revit twice. I've cleaned out all my temp files, cleaned the registry with ccleaner, disabled all services and startup programs bar Autodesk ones, and deleted Revit.ini from the roaming folder.

None of this has helped!! It's really frustrating because although I can open files from the start screen, if I'm then working on something I wouldn't be able to open another file unless I minimise the one I'm working on to get back to the start screen. Real pain!!

Any help would be much appreciated.

Jonathon

Do you have SP1 installed for Windows 7?

Also what is your VGA card?

Hi Mustafa,

Yes, and Windows 7 is fully updated. I have an AMD FirePro V4900.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I've done that, and I've installed all updates on my PC, and still the problem persists, I'm afraid.

That's not right. I'm sure re-installing Windows would fix it, because it fixes everything. It's not a solution, though.

Have you tried to disable all your plugins ?

I don't have any plugins for Revit. It's also a clean install.

I did have an application called Clover installed, which does affect Windows Explorer, but I have since uninstalled this in the hope that it would resolve my issue, which it hasn't. I made sure to clean it out thoroughly so checked the registry etc for remenants of the program.

I can't as it's a work computer, but the antivirus has always been there without causing any problems.

Hi Jim Jia,

Thanks for your advice and for your email. I have actually already done this; the forums were my last resort. I will give it another go, though, just in case.
