I cannot find any family files, e.g. doors, other than the standard
ones. when I click 'Load Family'the file is empty. can you advise me
the correct file path to find revit 2016 library content. thanks.

Thank you.

Try to explore the following path:

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\RVT 2016\Libraries

If it is empty or doesn't exist this means the content library has not been installed.

It leads to a file but it contains an empty folder named 'Generic'

Please advise..

Revit is working perfectly other than this. is it possible to download new family files such as doors, stairs and other non standard entities?

Thank you for your reply.

You can try reinstalling Revit with Internet connection available, that will download the content library to the specified folder, but this will take a long time depending on your internet connection speed.

An other approach is using the seek.autodesk website to find the desired families and download them.

This did not work. the file path still leads to nothing. I have only the basic doors, windows etc...

I need to use this program fully for my 5th year thesis work asap. please advise how i can fix this.

perhaps send me the correct file path to use. the content library has been downloaded and installed. but i cannot find it on my hard drive.

I don't know what do you mean with "Basic Doors, windows" do you expect something different !!!!

Please make sure you have followed the following guide:

Revit: Templates and families not installed

For non-default families or new families please use the following website:

when you choose to 'Load Family' in REVIT 2016, the file path that it opens is empty. !!! when I open a template file I can access 'Basic' family files such as 'Doors' of a few different 'types'.

I have followed your link and it hasn't worked.

If you consider the amount of people asking the same thing, who also say that the fix you recommended didn't work do you think there is maybe something to take seriously.

P.S

I will be posting this conversation on the autodesk discussion board.

I dont think my question was unreasonable enough to deserve your reply.
