Removing Family Parameters

Currently i have made an addon that converts elements inside a linked IFC into their corresponding family types. But for those IFC elements that does not have matching families, I used a simple CopyElement() method to directly copy and paste them into the workspace. But the problem i am facing now is, those elements that were converted into families will have these added parameters "IFC Parameters" (picture attached above). I want these IFC Parameters only in the elements that were not converted and not in the families that were converted.
I tried using FamilyManager and doc.ParameterBinding BindingMap to remove them for the families but these two ways will also remove the IFC parameters for the elements that were not convertedd into families.
Is there a way to only remove them for the converted families?

Could you research these converted elements and their types in more detail to be sure that you really are describing the problem accurately?

Afaik, when importing and linking IFC files, many objects generate DirectShape elements, not families. Such a direct shapes can also be equipped with a DirectShapeType.

Could it be that the parameters that you describe are not family parameters, but shared parameters on direct shape elements?

Shared parameters can indeed be manipulated via the binding map just as you describe.

However, if the family manager is of any use, then that would indicate that they really are families and family instances.

I am confused.

Please research with RevitLookup and let us know the exact class of the underlying elements.

Hello,

Apologies for the confusion.

Basically, I have some family symbols in the workspace. However, after running the add-on which simply uses the copyElements method to copy some DirectShapes, some IFC Parameters seem to appear on family symbols.

I have trouble understanding why copyElements adds IFC Parameters to family symbols. I don't see any link between them.

Thanks!
