Questions for Autodesk C++ developers working on core functionality of Revit

Hi guys!

Apologies if I'm asking this in the wrong place, but I have three questions for Autodesk C++ developers:

1) What prerequisite knowledge does a C++ developer need to have in order to work on core functionality of Revit?
2) How valuable is it if C++ developer is also an architect (as in building architect, with AEC experience)?
3) Does Autodesk hire for these kinds of roles in EMEA countries in which it has offices, but those offices are not listed in Office locations?

Thanks!

I cannot answer these questions. I'll see if I can find someone who can help (my own personal link). Meanwhile, I suggest you take a look at the Autodesk careers web page to get an idea of the employees Autodesk is currently searching for, and where.

Thank you Jeremy!

I've already checked the careers page and I see that there are not many job ads for C++ developer (I counted only 2). That is why I decided to ask here in hopes of getting some more info.

The development team replies:

  • This depends a bit on the specific role and job level being hired for. Some roles are nearly 100% in C++ code and would have specific expectations about algorithm development, performance optimization, memory management etc. Others might be lower job levels or use a variety of technology where specific C++ knowledge required would not be as deep.
  • For those of us in the AEC Products side of the company, it would be a plus. It might not get you the role if your programming skills were not sufficient, but it might help you stand out among a group of candidates who were similarly skilled. There are of course other divisions in Autodesk who work on other products where this might not be relevant.
  • We hire in a variety of locations, and not just the locations listed on the EMEA office locations page. As you suggested, reviewing open positions might show a variety of EMEA and non-EMEA locations at any given time.
