Question about a secondary development plugin for Revit

Hello,

I am a postgraduate student in computer science at the University of Adelaide, Australia. 

I am currently working on a project about a secondary development plugin for Revit. I plan for my plugin to be able to collect data uploaded by users and to show an accurate and reasonable probabilistic picture of the construction material coefficient based on the data collected. 

In this case, I would like to ask if I can legally collect user data?

A question for your multijurisdictional lawyer because they will be the one defending you. I think there have been similar questions here but it is the wrong forum really (no legal expertise).

Most these things are based on some kind of user agreement aren't they? Where you state what information will be collected and how it will be used. There is then after reading this some requirement for the user to check a box or press an 'I Agree' button (sometimes a combination of both).
