Point cloud precision issue

Hello Revit Community,

Our company is the creator of Fuzor and currently we support point clouds from Revit. However we are running into the issue below.

In one of the point cloud that our client gave us, we are running into precision issue which would manifest itself as striped lines.
The "origin" of the scan in Recap is: (466914.060 m, 6456804.020 m, 7.470 m ).

When calling GetPoints(), the CloudPoint point returns float values which doesn't contain enough precision and result in band of points.
If in Recap, we moved the point cloud to near 0, 0, 0. Then the point cloud would look normal.

Is there a way to retrieve the point cloud points as double instead of float?

Thanks,

Dear Scott,

Thank you for your query.

I discussed it with the development team, and they reply laconically:

It’s highly recommended to contain all data in Revit within Revit’s 20 mile limit. This is not the only problem you are likely to encounter.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jeremy
