Parts height with API

Hi, all. I'm a new API Use Adventurer to resolve some company's dificulties.

I was wondering about Parts and API. Is it possible to change height (greyed item on propriets bar) directly from the propriets bar ou the schedules with API?

Thank you

Hi alan.eu,

since the params are greyed out, I would think they are readonly.

By the way, length and height parameters represent *resulting* values in this case.

For example, a room's area is the result of the room's boundaries.

It would not make sense to change this value to alter the area; how should the room element react to this change:

growing or shrinking by scaling the room by a factor, or cutting off an edge ?

As for Parts, it may be that they have a rectangular shape, so in this case it would make sense if their height could be set, assuming that the bottom side is fixed, anyway.

Like a Wall.

But Parts also could have irregular, polygonal shapes, so there is no *single* parameter which controls the height.

Hope I could help.

Best regards,

Actually, I'm waste too much time to manually set the height for the finish parts as an essencial phase to our projects, so, do you think that's isn`t possible (with API)? I'm considering only rectangular walls and parts.

I need most of internal finishes to be set below the ceiling, and doing that, one by one, is a good as a time-waster.

Hi alan.eu,

just use RevitLookup to examine the parts' parameters.

If height parameter is readonly, you cannot set it, so your question will be answered this way.

It may be possible to edit a part's boundaries via API, so perhaps this may be a new approach.

Just a guess.

Please have a look at PartUtils class in the RevitAPI.chm (and let us know if you found a solution ;-)).
