Mysterious ghost elements

When I collect elements (using `ElementCategoryFilter` with `BuiltInCategory.OST_Doors`), I sometimes get these strange ghost elements.

For example, element `216845` in the Advanced Sample Project (attached).  This element was causing problems for me.  I want to inspect it, so I go to Manage -> Select Element By ID, but it says it can't find any good views, so I'm not able to see it.

Not sure what to do next.  Any ideas what this strange ghost door is?

Examine it and its properties and geometry in RevitLookup.

You can use the built-in Revit Manage > Select by ID command to select it, then snoop current selection.

If the geometry is void or the properties senseless, you can use those characteristics as predicates to select these elements in a filtered element collector to delete them and thus clean up your corrupted model.

Or Autodesk's corrupted sample, as the case may be...

Please let us know what you find out.

Thank you!

Cheers,

Jeremy
