Installation of Revit Content Libraries

Hi all,

We've been struggling here in South Africa with the installation of Revit Content Libraries (since the 2015 release). The 2016 release is particularly bad as it seems that most users can't even manage to install the libraries at all.

We constantly have to navigate users to the uninstall programs feature of the control panel (reference post: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/...
This should not be necessary, AND it usually doesn't work (probably due to unstable internet).

  • Is there a direct online download link available to download the libraries?
  • With the internet connection in South Africa not nearly at the same level as the US, how can we ensure easy installation for our clients?
  • Can you not include the content libraries on the installation USB to avoid this issue?

Much appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Anria

Hi anriae,

Thank you for contributing to Autodesk Revit Answer Day!

The link in the original post appears to be broken, but to verify, here is a link on how to install Revit content - Revit: Templates and families not installed

You can find the direct installation for the Revit content HERE.

NOTE: The default location of the files should be: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Product (Revit 20xx), unless a different location is specified during installation.

Here is how to Select Content for a Revit Installation.

Thanks for the reply,

Again the slow internet connection won't allow me to verify the link you sent, but thank you for the direct download link. Does this include the South African Metric Library?

We'd still like to be able to do installations only from the installation media (without needing to download GB's worth of content), just putting it out there.

Thanks though,

Good luck with the rest of Answer Day.

thank you for the blog.. issues with the internet speed are common in African especially here in East Africa.

Am writing to re-request for the direct link for the revit 2016 content Library as the ones given above have an error of 404 which reads the content was removed.. i would be very glad if i hear fro you soon.
