Get number of instances of a family that can fit into a rectangular box

Hi,

I have a specific requirement that i  should be able to get the  number of instances of a specific family of a definite size, that can fit into a rectangular box  whose dimensions we can define according to our requirement. I have no idea on where to start. Kindly reply.

How about calculating the volume of the rectangular box (Vb) and finding the volume of the family instance (Vf) and calculating Vb / Vf. This should give you the number of instances that can fit in the box by volume.
