Forge Revit Design Automation - Bug?

Hi I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this (I've contacted support but haven't heard back) but I believe I have discovered a bug introduced recently to the Autodesk Forge Revit Design Automation engine that causes computations to run insanely slow.
If you don't specify the language for your Forge activity as "ENU" or whatever language (the docs and logs say the default language is ENU), then your design automation computations will take a very long time to run. For weeks, I have been consistently running a computation that was taking 20sec that suddenly started taking 10+ min yesterday and I started digging into logs and saw random Chinese characters in the log file that I'd never seen before.
Now that I changed my activity to run with language ENU, I don't see the Chinese characters in my log file and it takes 20 sec again:
