In one of our project files we are dealing with this painfull error where the model wont open when in audit mode (Revit 2017), nor can we update it to 2018 or 2019 because of this error.

More info is here: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles...
and here: http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-9AFAAE6B-4107-4478-8B80-53467FE118DB

But it seems we can still open the model in normal state and work in the file as if its a normal file.

Because of this, and the error only oocures in Audit mode or when upgrading to 2018/2019 version, we discovered it in a very late stadium, so we dont have a old backup anymore where these elements still existed to be able to fix the error.

So this is why im moving to this API forum now.
Would there by any way tough the API to create some new elements with these ElementID's, or some way to get really rid of them in the API? e.d. delete these element ID's tough API? or would this bring me in more trouble?

Does this post https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/revit-architecture-forum/revit-error-too-many-missing-elements/td-p/7... help?

Unfortunately, I don't think Revit API can make this easy, there is no information about these missing element type. I would suggest to ask or escalate this issue to Revit product team.
