Curved reference plane

Hi we do a number of drawings that have curved roofs and i wondered if there was any way of creating a curved reference plane, this would help enormously in placing purlins along the curve.

Before I continue investigating this I have a question for you. Is this a Revit API related question? If the answer is Yes, can you please explain a bit more what approach have you tried so far from the API and if you can share some code to investigate further.
