Creating dummy room in roofs with dormer cuts

Hello guys,

when you cut a roof with a dormer and try to place a room, the room boundaries are not correct. I tried to create a room with room seperation lines but no success.
There is already an article about that problem:
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Incorrec...

When I cut the roof with opening by area it works but it is not like dormer. The cut detail has to be a dormer.

My question: can we create a dummy room and ignore other references under roof with API?

Thank you!

You can create room separation lines via API, of course.

The question is: how do you automatically infer where to place them from the room and dormer model?

That might be non-trivial, meseems.

Hello Jeremy,

thank you very much for reply! Well, the dormer is there in order to cut roof and place in its region a floor. What I would like to see is, that I could create a room under that flood with surrounding walls but Revit roof function takes wrong references to create the room. I places room seperation likes and tried to create a room via UI but they are seperated by "wrong references". When you create an openning by area it does not happen...

Here is a screenshot from a cut by area:

I have to then cut the roof again to get dormer form.. but it is not practical.
