Hi,

Is it possible to collaborate using the cloud from the api? (enable “cloud” work sharing)

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your query.

Afaik, the Revit API knows very little or next to nothing about the cloud per se.

The EnableWorksharing method API call that you refer to has to do with worksharing, cf. the information on Managing a Team Project:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-9EE51F7D-C53F-4950-A50B-149CABC8D46E

That said, it is definitely possible to collaborate using the cloud. For that, I would read up a bit on Collaboration for Revit, also known as C4R:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/RVT/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-95DA7950-294A-442F-B82A-218E45D79C66

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply,

I Just hoped it would be possible to put new models in B360 using the api. Then I could modify the files through the local files on b360.

I only refer to the enable worksharing method because that's the method I'm using for collaboration within networks - the other radio button in the collaborate menu.

I'll read up on C4R

Dear Thomas,

Thank you for your update and clarification.

Yes, you can indeed put new models in BIM360 using the API... but which API?

Afaik, it will also involve some use of Forge Data Management and BIM 360 APIs in addition to the pure Revit API.

Here is an extensive thread discussing the history of browsing model files in the cloud including A360 and C4R:

If you run into any challenges or wish to discuss this topic further, that might be the most appropriate and fruitful place to do so.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for the reply again,

I hoped it would be possible only using the Revit API, but it seems I need to dive into Forge for one radio button in Revit -.-' .. hehe

Yup, I'm afraid so.

Thank you!

Cheers,
