Auto Dimensioning Family in a Project, based on reference planes in the family

Hello Everyone,

I am new to Revit API so bear with me if I am asking something very simple.

I just want to annotate and create aligned dimensions easily with ONE CLICK for a selected Revit Element in a Project Plan view.

For this example I have attached a modified version of a Revit Sample family element, a four legged chair thing.

I want to automatically create aligned dimensions between the reference planes inside a family editor, say the distances between Right, X1, Centre, X2, Left. And also Front, Y1, Centre (Front/Back), Y2, Back.

The final outcome should be like the image below.

Has someone already tried and achieved this? If not where do I begin?

Thanks in advance.

Have you seen this thread?

It looks very similar to your case.

Hope it helps.
