I heard nothing back from them yet. I asked again now.

You might also want to raise a wish list item for this in the Revit Idea Station, or vote for an existing wish.

I heard back from the development team. They say:

Sorry, there’s no API to do that currently.

Please file a request for this in the Revit Idea Station for this functionality, or vote for an existing one, and post a link to the wish list entry here.
