I recently had an expensive photoshoot with a model, for the sole purpose of capturing a 3d model. And I realized after the images had been taken that I had broken many of the rules for getting good results: I was accidentally casting shadows on the model, the floor was marble and glossy, etc. The result from the photoshoot were terrible. Luckily, I know a bit about photoshop, so I went in, seperated and amplified just the highfrequency details and viola it renders 100% better (this should actually be part of the process for best results). But Now I have to go into mudbox and re-texture the whole thing. It would be great if I could edit a set of images and use those for the model, and then I could use the original images for the texture.
