Problems with Remake

Hi everybody,

I have already used Remake several times, but for some weeks it doesn't work properly.

Attached some pics and the result. I have already tried different objects and different background.

Has someone any suggestions?

Thanks

Andrea

Hi @Anonymous,

could you provide more information about your workflow and the system you are using? Also, are you trying to scan the whole object in the scene or just that white cover you have on top of the wooden structure? However, i can already spot by the pictures you posted some of the most likely issue:

1) You are shooting outdoor. Are you sure that white cover was absolutely still and not moved (even slightly) by the wind?

2) In one of the picture i can see somebody walking in the background. Be aware that moving object in the background can create issue during the reconstruction.

3) The white cover could be hard to be reconstructed as color feature is one of those things Remake uses for the alignment and reconstruction process. Also, its shape is defined by a repeated pattern, which is usually something creating big issue for photogrammetry based 3D reconstruction.

4) Your object is sorrounded by glass windows and reflective surfaces. Also, your background is very blurry.

Based on these first three points, i would strongly encourage you to:

1) Be absolutely sure every part of your object is completely still and, if it is possibile, nothing moves on the background.

2) Use markers for the white cover (i.e.: colored tape or any other things Remake can use as a reference point)

3) Try to avoid that kind of background with glass or shiny metal

4) Usually it is better to have a sharp background (i.e.: increasing your f value)

I hope this helps.

Best,

V.
