Revit Solutions SDK Libraries for Linux

Hello,

It seems to me that you provide only one distribution of Reality Solutions SDK which is compiled libraries for Windows.

Please, could you also provide compiled libraries for Linux?

This is very important for us since Linux is our development and continuous integration platform. So being able to build and test on Linux would be a huge help for us.

(More precisely, we are currently under Ubuntu 16.04 (we can move to 18.04) with built-in gcc which is 5.4.)

Hi @lamorlette,

Thank you for your feedback. We understand the value of Linux version SDK and will put this requirement in our requirement list.

Best Regards,

Yan

I submitted the Reality Solutions SDK Idea RCPSDK-I-11.

Hi Yan - I understand it takes a while to prioritize and provide compiled binaries for another platform. Just curious to know, if there is any tentative timeline for the SDKs in Linux?

Thanks,

Prem

Hi all,

I like to back this old idea: Being able to create ReCap data from (substantially cheaper) Linux cloud instances or even from devices (...) would be great.

Cheers,

Tilo

Hi @kubitTilo ,

A Linux version of the SDK is not in our short term roadmap. However, we have successfully tested and used the Windows version on Wine in a linux docker container. Feel free to reach out when trying this out.

What version of Revit and lunix  are you on?  I am interested in starting running in Ubuntu 23.04. Maybe running in a bottle. @karthik.nathan

thanks

@joe_truitt I am currently using Recap SDK 23.0.3 (24.0.1 doesn't contain any fix for me, so I will update later). I am currently running on Ubuntu 22.04.2.

I would absolutely love to hear how you accomplished that. Especially with loading the license and all.
I am currently running a windows VM in a docker container where i use decap. and its a mess

But honestly i have not stumbled over the SDK until today. And also have zero experience with wine.
But you gotta start somewhere

Is there any updates about the linux support? When I asked this 1-2 years ago, I was told the support was coming soon.

I am also running with wine, but direct support would really make things easier and probably increase the performance
