Currently in Recap, the only options for video export are resolution and extension (MP4 or AVI). No matter what option you choose however, all video exports from Recap are compressed by an H.264 codec. This is a fantastic codec for a finished product, especially when it is bound for the web. HOWEVER, if you wish to do any editing on the pointcloud video, such as combing clips, adding logos, music, etc., then H.264 is probably your worst option. This is because when you complete your editing, you must re-encode the footage as h.264 again, meaning the footage gets compressed twice over before it even reaches the web. Then, the web host will compress it once more on upload. So to Recap ;), starting with an H.264 codec means you will always have crummy looking videos by the time you are done editing the footage;--there is no way around it. The only way to improve the edited video quality is to start with better footage that is not compressed by the H.264 codec, which is not an option in Recap as of right now. If Autodesk would like for it's users to start producing very cool video content of pointclouds for social media and other outlets (free advertising), I suggest the incorporation of other video codecs that offer higher bit depth, bit rate, dynamic range and quality in general. Fingers crossed on this one, thanks! Daniel
