Ability to choose temp file locations

Ability to choose temp file locations

As of now, we have no ability to choose where Recap stores temp folders.  Processes such as indexing and unification requires a very flexible amount of space to store temp folders.  If you run out of space on the drive you are working on, it shuts down the process.  This can be very painful and costly for long overnight processes.

For indexing, ReCap uses the global temporary file setting:

For unification, it will create a subfolder at the same location you select for the export.  So, in both cases you have full control over which drive/location is used for temp.

Having done more than enough of this process make sure to get a secondary 1TB SSD drive and then change the path to what Ryan mentioned above.  The $300 that you invest is worth the frustration from an overnight failure, I had a few prior to the investment.

Thanks Ryan.  This is good to know.  We have ran into several jobs recently where the end RCP is 200 GB plus, and unification will quickly fill up a 1 TB drive.
