Read the room.
3D Connexion is currently supported on 203 applications.
Hear Hear. It is highly frustrating and inefficient to work in multiple applications with all but one using the 3D mouse, then needing to revert back to the hated view cube only in Recap.
My previous comment "All, We are actively looking into this and will provide an update moving forward." accidentally changed the status. It is not back to gathering support. We are actively looking into this for implementation.
I appreciate your asking what we want. But we've already told you we want support for 3DConnexion as we've done for the past eight years. If youhad offered the easiest, simplest support eight years ago, we'd now have spent the next eight years asking for enhancements to that support.
Personally, I'd envision it to work at the very least in navigating the point cloud. I'd envision navigating in the photo environment as limited at best. I can't pan my point of view in a photo.
If you could provide point cloud support, we might be able to give you some insight on what might be the next enhancement to pursue.
The fact that I can import the point cloud from ReCap into Inventor and the 3DConnexion interface works perfectly grinds my gears that it has taken eight years to get the response you gave us today.
Here's an idea.. Open inventor and import a point cloud. Look at the way a spacemouse functions in that environment, then make recap function the same way. AS A STARTING POINT.
THEN, and this is huge, listen to the users for the enhancements to that functionality since each user will have different needs. DON'T wait 8 years to respond. In fact Don't wait more than 1 month to accept that there is a need for it.
@zhaoyang_ma Please do as @cgchad suggests, but be sure to set the 'View' to 'Perspective'. In 'Orthographic' mode you can't see past the first layer of points. See the attached video. If you could get ReCap to perform this well, I'd be a much happier camper.
And even zoom when it's 2D. For example, in Autodesk Inventor I can rotate, zoom, pan, etc. when looking at a part or an assembly, but when working on a drawing I can still use the spacemouse to zoom when dealing in 2D.
