What happened to ReCap?

Hi,

I haven't had to deal with a LAS point cloud for a while now. Anyway, I fire up ReCap (since that useful bit of functionality was taken out of Civil3d 2018) and I get presented with this message below. ReCap (not Pro) was supplied as part of Infrastructure Design Suite Premium, but I couldn't find any way to get around either upgrading to or trialing the pro version (nor could my reseller support guy). Does anybody else get this?

Thanks

Mick

No. I just get this:

I don't know how to help with that. In the meantime there is a free routine from Dotsoft that will let you get the LAS into your project. Thanks to @TerryDotson

G'Day Mick,

I'm getting that too. I downloaded the "Pro" version of ReCap yesterday, and I still get that message. I think I'll hit the "Update" button and see where that takes me.

Mick,

Did you check your Autodesk Desktop App? I did this update and now everything seems OK with ReCap.

Hi Dave,

I did actually do that first up, but I don't get past the licencing - did it work out for you?

I've got a perpetual Infrastructure Design Suite Premium licence on maintenance - not subscription. What are you on?

Cheers

Hi Mick,

I've got C3D 2018 and ReCap Pro, both Stand Alone, both Subscription Licenses. After I did the update, ReCap opens up without any dialogue box message.

Ahhh OK thanks Dave, it's a different situation for me.

I'm suspecting that Autodesk have simply discontinued the non-pro version with no warning and it's a case of subscribe or die. If so, that would be a pretty dog move on autodesk's part. I particularly like the part where it gives zero days to do anything about it right before Christmas when it's impossible to get any attention from the support desk.

Does anyone actually know if this is the case?

thanks

@AllenJessup Hi Allen, can I ask what your licence arrangement is? IDSP perpetual, subscription etc.?

thanks

@autoMick

Currently we're running IDSP 2017 perpetual on Maintenance with network licensing. I use Recap 360 which came with IDSP 2017. We'll be switching to Subscription in the spring.

Next week should be quiet so maybe I'll create a deployment for 2018.
