Slow import of PTX files

Hi, I have a small project of 30 PTX files, delivered on an USB 3.0 drive, about 1.5GB each.

The problem is that when I import the files, regardless of if i select files or folder, the spinning wheel "importing files" start tuning for Hours.

Only when I let it run for a whole night, i get to the next step of the import wizard.

Strangely, selecting only one or two PTX files, only takes about 5 minutes.

What is recap doing at that point ?

RAM and CPU usage is not changing a lot.

Can there be more of info on the progress like : "analysing  5% scan01.ptx" because now, I do often have the impession that it hangs.

Or has it to do with File I/O on usb drives ?

Hi @Patrick_Aps_9121,

Thank you for letting us know.

We'll investigate and get back to you.

Btw. if you can export as PTG that should speed up the process a lot.

The format is binary and is importing in ReCap much faster.

What is the difference between PTG and E57 files?

Does PTG provide the individual scan stations and realviews?

Also, if the job is already registered within an external software (i.e. Cyclone) can it just skip the registration that I assume is happening in the import process?
