Single File of Recap

How can we  transfer ReCap data to other computer, as we need to copy complete project folder which is in huge size. Can a single file be created with graphical details and without loosing any data ??

You will have to copy both the RCP and Support Folder if you are copying the project to another computer.

There are other techniques to reduce the project size - If you have a lot of deletes, you could do SaveAs + Remove Points. This will reduce the project size.

Other option is to do a export to Unified RCS with higher 'refine grid' setting. This will will create a single RCS file and probably reduce the file size a bit. You could copy the unified RCS over to the other computer and import it into a new project. But this will lose any mirror balls and realviews.

If you are going to end up just throwing it in navis anyway, you can publish the rcp from navis and have "embed recap and texture data" checked

I recommend 7-zip for this - http://www.7-zip.org/.

  1. CTRL+Click on RCP and Support folder.
  2. Right click -> 7-zip -> Add to Archive

Creates a single compressed file for much faster transfer to/from a server or external drive.  You'll need to unzip on the other machine, obviously.
