Screen Resolution

Hello,

We are currently putting together a multi-projector 3D lab and was wondering if there is a screen resolution limitation to ReCap? Do you think it would it be possible to run ReCap at 8000 x 2560 pixels?

Thanks!

People with 4K monitors already complained on this forum that the Tiles (buttons) of ReCap become too small to use on high resolutions.

so i guess it will run, but you won't be able to use it.

Hi,

There is no upper limit to recaps resolution. So you will be able to stretch it across a multi-monitor setup, including muli-projectors. It isn't designed for that, so you'll also stretch the UI across monitors and may have some usability annoyances, but it should work just fine.

However, Recap doesn't respect DPI settings well, so if you attempt to change the DPI on the computer in order to make the UI appear bigger, that will not work. Instead you're stuck with the UI being the same pixel size, hence the aforementioned "tiny UI" on 4K monitors.

But assuming you've got the graphics card to push that many pixels, you shouldn't have any problem showing off data across multiple monitors in the main window.

Thank you for responding so quickly. it's good to know that ReCap can run at that resolution and hopefully the GUI won't be an issue. A follow-up question, will the 3D scene will be drawn at the specified resolution or will it be stretched, possibly distorting the 3D environment? Thanks!

Any news about High resolution monitor support? I just noticed Autocad 2018 supports 4K monitors since the last update...

Hi,

I had a large ReCap dataset running on a 3 projector 4K immersive VR facility (active stereo, rear-projection) without any performance or synchronisation issues. As previously mentioned in the post, the only problem was that the screen icons were tiny. But if you know the application interface, not really an issue.

Two software recommendations - customisable hot keys (eg. launching an animation path without opening a wind and clicking an icon), and full-screen presentation capability (control on a secondary screen, no icons on the master screen).
