Recap vs Recap Pro

Is there anywhere that gives a comparison of the different feature of Recap Pro when compared to Recap? The company I work for is currently looking at our software to process laser scans and we are trying to determine whether or not we will require Recap Pro or whether Recap will be sufficent with our existing software.

Hi Tom,

At the moment there are two 'Pro' features:

  - registration of raw scans

  - alignment to reference coordinates

Everything else is free and will remain so.

You can use "update origin " tool under "display setting->points" to rotate the point cloud. It will allow you to reset x/y/z axis. Thanks, Yan

I just bought the fairly expensive Building-Design-suite-Premium which includes Recap, only to install and get the "upsell" message that I have a limited trial on Pro. Buyer beware - ask what is NOT included in your suite. Does Ultimate include Pro? Is there a suite that does? Neither of the two resellers (Imaginit, or DLT) that quoted/spoke mentioned that Recap was missing anything. Can I continue making rectangles in AutoCAD 2015 or will that expire after a 30 days?

(is this how the advertised price is kept "low" - by leaving out portions of functionality without being particularly clear about it?)

Greg, if you refer to the solution to this topic, you see that ReCap *IS* free, it's only the scan to scan registration and survey control that requires any sort of an additional purchase. These are not included in your Suite license because you will only need that functionality if you are registering laser scans. Nothing will expire after 30 days. You can continue to use ReCap to view/edit/export/publish your point clouds for free.

We're working to try to change this messaging because it's clear that it has been causing our customers some confusion.

For what its worth the availability of standard vs. pro features in ReCap have always been clear to me.

One additional area that should be getting attention is the increasing number of features or plug-ins which only apply to the 360 (cloud) products.  Marketing has its directive to get the word out but they tend to use the base product name like "ReCap" or "InfraWorks", leaving it up to the user to dig through product specs to identify whether its online-only.  Such things should be a little more forward-facing, even if the current generation of cloud processing products gets a less than stellar reception.
