Recap Pro Registration Crash with Unified Scan Data

Anonymous

Hi,

We're having some problems here trying to register 'new' BLK scans with an existing unified point-cloud (scanned some time ago with P40 and unified/exported from cyclone ). Unfortunately we don't have the option of re-exporting the data in a non-unified or alternative format.

When we select/import the BLK scans first, followed by the unified cloud, then pick three common points, the registration and alignment work fine. The problem with this, however, is that we want the new scans to be aligned to the existing data coordinates and not vice versa.

When we try the other way round - i.e. select the unified cloud first, followed by the new BLK scans - the software immediately crashes upon picking the 3rd common alignment point.

We've tried this on several different machines and have ensured that all versions of RECAP software, IOS, and BLK firmware are up-to-date.

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community! Unfortunately, at this time ReCap Pro doesn’t support Leica P40 scans.  The import capability for PRJ is only enabled for data created by the P16 (despite the same file extensions). I would suggest exporting from Cyclone as PTG, E57, or PTX and try importing to ReCap.

Are you able to import scans from BLK360 to ReCap Pro project?

Let me know if this helps.

Hi Anil,

Many thanks for the reply.

Sorry if this wasn't clear - however the P40 scans were unified in Cyclone and then exported as an E57 and imported into RECAP. This has worked fine, and the import into recap of the BLK360 data is also fine.

The problem is when we try to register the two datasets together it crashes every time.

Hi @Anonymous,

Would you be able to share data sets from both project so I can try to duplicate this behavior on my end. If you can then let me know and will send you invite to A360 project drive.

Thank you and have a great day!
