Recap Pro Clean-up Limit

Bonjour,

I've been using Recap Pro (trial so far) for a couple of weeks to clean up point clouds filled with moving people or cars. It's been pretty efficient for projects of 10 to 20 fls or e57 files I would say, as I'm still trying to assess the  "competences" of this tool.

I then wanted to clean-up a 88-pointclouds project (e57 files, colors applied, full resolution) and the result is that Recap detected no point to be cleaned at all (see attached image)! I am pretty suprised since I clearly see stuff that needs to be removed. It took a long time importing, registering, processing, all that for nothing (more than 1 day at the office spent on that).

So I would like to know what are the limits of the tool ? What can I do and what can I not do ?

Will it work better if I split the global area in smaller parts / projects ?

Hello,

I always clean manually, try to clean with the fence or plan tool

Yeah I had to do that eventually, using Faro Scene 7.1.

The point of this tool is to save time by removing points automatically, I'm not sure I will get to use it after the trial period.

Anyone from Autodesk to answer my initial question ?

Dear @anil_mistry,

Maybe you can help me with this situation ?

Can you explain how the clean-up works in a few words ? Does it only select points that are only seen in 1 scan in comparison to others ? Why doesn't it select moving people sometimes?

thanks

Thanks Miguel,

I've read this documentation already before downloading Recap. Unfortunately it does not answer or resolve my problem.

I tried with 2 sets of 7 scans on the same project (instead of 88 total), the clean-up does select points to remove even it's not perfect in each case.

Dear @anil.mistry,

I am still hoping for an explanation about the limit of the clean-up tool in Recap Pro. I have 5 days left for the trial version, I won't be able to give enough good arguments to my boss if I can't solve this.

Are you aware of this issue? are you working on it for a future update ?

Kind regards.

Julien
