ReCap Not Opening on Multiple Monitors

ReCap Not Opening on Multiple Monitors

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi all,

We have an Alienware laptop that does not open AutoDesk ReCap documents when connected to two external monitors via a VisionTek docking station. Once we disconnect from the monitors, the documents open without any issues.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Thanks!

Did you find a solution to this issue?

We have multiple workstations that this occurs on. After launching Recap, if the application is moved off the primary monitor to a secondary monitor, the application crashes frequently or crashes on attempting to re-launch. We are forced to disconnect all secondary monitors so that Recap will launch on the primary only and then it works fine again.

Autodesk, this has been an issue for quite a few versions now. Can this be looked into for a fix?

Hi @jarrodbaumann7604 ,

Thanks for your feedback.

There are some solutions about graphics system issue mentioned in the following article:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/recap/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Terminal...

Also, please check the scale factor of your two monitors and make sure they have the same scaling and resolution. Our team is currently working on a fix for the issue that may happen to dual monitors with different resolution and scaling.

Thanks,

Yan

Thank you @yan.fu - We have checked the scaling on all workstations where we have recently experienced this. All are set to similar resolutions and 100% scale factor. Also none of the issues in the link you sent above apply to our workstations.

This seems to still be an issue....I have the problem with an alienware laptop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070.  Can run one external monitor, but if a second is plugged in Recap will crash.  Running Recap 2023

Yep, I can confirm it is still an issue. In fact, there hasn't been a version of Recap since my post above in 2021 that didn't have issues when you move the application off of the display that windows considers the "Main Display". Sorry Autodesk but I can't recall another Windows application I've used in many many years that couldn't be placed on any connected display at any scale, etc. Seems like this just isn't a priority to be fixed for the end user.
