ReCap Fails to Start

Anonymous
Not applicable

I recently wanted to start playing around with Autodesk ReCap and I opened the program the other day and had no issues starting.  I saw that there was an updated and updated the product.  When I tried to open the program today it wont start.  No errors, nothing, just wont finish loading.  During the startup automation it always seems to fail at checking graphics driver.  The program just closes (and there doesnt appear to be anything running - nothing in taskmanager etc).

Any thoughts/ideas?  According to the desktop app I am running the latest (no updates available) version of ReCap Pro.  I am also using windows 10.

Hello @Anonymous

Which product you are trying to Launch ReCap Pro or ReCap Photo?

From the control panel, could you tell me the versions of your products?

Thanks,

Hi RItesh, I am honestly not really familiar with ReCap as I was just starting to play around with it.  What is installed on my computer doesnt seem to distinguish between ReCap Pro or ReCap photo (it is just called Autodesk ReCap) - it is trying to launch C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk ReCap\ReCap.exe

It looks like I have 2 versions of ReCap installed on my computer, one is version 4.2.2.15 (dated 3/12/18 which i believe is the updated version i received recently through the Autodesk desktop App) and is the one that is trying to be launched.  I also have a version 1.4.2.8 supposedly installed on my computer as well

Thanks

Have you tried to update your graphics driver to the latest one? And also could you uninstall the ReCap 1.4?

Hi Anil, uninstalling the old version looks like it ended up uninstalling the newer version as well (though it doesnt appear.  I am using a laptop from Dell with an Intel graphics driver that is up to date.

I tried to re-install the newer version, but it now thinks that it is already installed (and wont let me uninstall it).

It looks like when I made the initial comment it was through our tech guy's account (who has since left the company).  I do need to run to a meeting that will take the rest of the day, but will be back tomorrow to look for solutions.

I will respond to this post with my account (and not the tech guy's).

Thanks

Just responding to this comment with the correct account which should have my correct email address attached (instead of the tech's who is no longer with our company)

Thanks,

Justin

@Anonymous

Please restart your machine and go to control panel and see if ReCap is still listed.

Now delete the folders related to ReCap from following location C:/programfiles/autodesk.

Now try installing the latest version of ReCap again.

Do let me know, if the above suggested solution doesn't work for you.

Thanks,

Hi Anil/Critesh, after restarting my computer I was still not able to install ReCap.  I ended up removing it from the registry as well and was then able to re-install ReCap.  After re-installing the program was able to startup with no issues.

Thanks, for your help.
