LEICA FILE IN RECAP

We have a Leica file and have imported it into recap pro. But it seems to be removing 60% of the points. We have turned off decimation option.

Why is it removing all of these points?

I’m aware this is not the appropriate scanner used but not sure on points being removed??

What kind of leica file are we talking about? do you have cyclone?

It’s a LEICA P30 scanner. Probably not the correct scanner for this
requirement but why is recap only importing 5000 points? Compared to
Geomagic Design X or even Microstation importing the full 27000 points

I used to work with a Leica P30, never had a problem. My workflow was process via Leica Cyclone and unify, export to PTS (or E57) and import to Recap. Can you share your workflow?

Unfortunately the facts are its not importing to Recap correctly but is fine with Microstation and Geomagic design X. Also I have only received the pts file off someone to inspect the reason its not importing correctly. I'm assuming their workflow to get the pts file is likewise with our method.

Well if someone else processed the data maybe you should ask if they used a decimation grid? (something very drastic 50mm etc) you could try asking for a e57. The people that made the imp "leica file" should be able to fix this very fast and could actually make the RCP for you.

But try to explain why it imports correctly into the other apps I mentioned?

Im just going to take a guess but it may have to do with the decimation grid turn it on and give a 2 or just live at 5 see what happens....
