Indexing not working?

I am very new to ReCap and I'm not really sure how it works but,

I'm trying to import an .las file but I always get stuck in indexing (the launch project won't turn blue)

I know larger data can take quite some time but I have been waiting for a day and nothing happens.

A solution in the forum I found was to make sure I have enough storage space, I checked and I have more than enough space so I'm not really sure what is causing the problem.

Hi @namiTYQMX,
Welcome to the Autodesk Forums.
What version are you running? Do you have all updates? How large is your LAS file? Have you tried other LAS files?
If you post your LAS file, I can test it. If it's over 71MB you'll need to use a link to either WeTransfer or DropBox.

Hi @Pointdump

Thank you for responding.

I am current on v.23.0. The LAS file is over 500mb (sample file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kew081gui578nhk/%E3%82%B5%E3%83%B3%E3%83%97%E3%83%AB.zip?dl=0)

I have also tried other LAS files I got from the internet but it still does not work.

Thank you so much!

@namiTYQMX,
Thanks for posting your las file.
I was able to Import>>Index>>Launch Project your Sample.las file in under 2 minutes. 16,883,244 never classified(0) points. And ReCap even recognized the WGS 84/UTM zone53N coordinate system. Do you have the "Pro" version? Do you have the latest update to ReCap Pro 2023.1?

Not sure what might be happening. You might try updating your graphics card driver.

Hi @Pointdump !

I tried updating recap to v.23.1 but still failed to launch the sample project.

From home > new project > import point cloud > select files to import > sample.las > import files > index scans

I am doing the said steps above but I always get stuck at indexing scans 100% complete...

Do I need to change something in the filtering and advanced settings?

Also, I'm not sure what you meant by the "pro" version, but I am currently on the 30-day free trial version.

Thanks!

@namiTYQMX,
There's 2 versions of ReCap, regular and "Pro". If you're on a trial version, you don't have Pro.
Drag-n-Drop this RCP file into ReCap and see if it opens:

Hi @Pointdump

I was able to open the sample .rcp file that you sent. Thank you.

Does this mean that with the non trial version, importing an LAS file is not possible?

Thanks.

@namiTYQMX,
Your trial version should open any LAS file. That you can open an RCP file but not a LAS file is baffling. I have no idea what is happening. You might try uninstalling and then re-installing ReCap. If that fails, you'll want to open a support ticket with Autodesk.

@Pointdump

I have tried reinstalling recap but it was no luck.

Will try to open a support ticket.

Thank you so much for your help!

Have a great day!
