IMPORTANT - ACCOUNT SUBSCRIPTION NOT WORKING

Anonymous

Dear Autodesk Staff,

I just have subscribed for Autodesk Recap Pro with the intention to use Autodesk Recap Photo to its maximum capacity.

Unfortunately, my subscription doesn't work!!!

Recap Photo still demands cloud credits from me?! I have asked on this forum before I subscribe and I have been clear about what I want to use it.

I want to use Recap Photo without the limitation of 100 photos, that is why I have subscribed.

I just have paid a monthly subscription and I am not able to use this option (more than 100 photos). Recap demands from me 12 cloud credits!

Please help me because this is extremely frustrating.

I would not subscribe otherwise!

Best,
Georgi Stamenov

Hello @Anonymous

Sorry to hear about your problem.

If you have not tried, then can you please try log out and log in back with your account details which you have used for Subscription?

Also, if possible can you please share me your contract details and the email id which you have used for Subscribing to ReCap Pro?

Thanks,

Hello @critesh ,

It doesn’t work, I’ve tried it again. I need to buy 15 credits in order to construct a mesh from 255 photos.

I am subscribed and have paid already but it doesn’t allow me to use Recap photo without buying cloud credits.

My email is Georgi.stamenov@network.rca.ac.uk

I don’t know what do you mean by contact details?

I hope we can sort it out, otherwise I will apply for refund.

I clearly don’t see a meaning to subscribe for a software that can only use cloud credits?!

Hello @Anonymous

How many Cloud Credits are showing in the UI? (you can see thins on right top corner, click on Subscribe and it will show you the Cloud Credit)

Thanks,

Hello @critesh

I have 5 cloud credits.

I have checked the price list and it says that the function uses a minimum of 12 cloud credits, which cost around 10 pounds. This is the most expensive photo geometry reconstruction I have ever encountered!

If I am subscribed shouldn't it not ask me for Cloud Credits at all?

That is what I've understood from the whole concept of subscribing.

Why would I subscribe to a software that I would need to pay for every single function there is in it?

It feels like Autodesk want to charge us extra for every single menu there is in their software. It makes no sense!

Best,
Georgi Stamenov

Hello @Anonymous

After subscribing to ReCap Pro, you should get 100CC which you can use for processing your jobs using ReCap Photo.

Subscribing to the product will not give you free processing, subscribing will only enable the workflows for you.

I hope, this is clear to you now.

If you still not able to see 100cc in the drop down of Subscribe menu on right top corner of ReCap Photo, then you may need to log out and log in back. Sometime the Cloud Credit doesn't update automatically after subscribing.

Do let me know, if you are still facing the issue.

Thanks,

I have to agree with you Georgi, this is extraordinary. Either charge for the service and provide free software, or charge for the software and provide free service. In any case, mostly this processing can be done locally, not necessarily needing a cloud service. Even if you find your 100CC starter bundle, at 12CC per process that is only 8 models per year. I am a 30 year evangelist for Autodesk, but sadly the corporate greed is now impossible to justify. Dale

That is quite a drastic change @critesh ,don't you think?

From free for students Remake with limitation to 250 per scan you jump to only 100 photos free for students and if you want more 100 dollars for 100 cloud credits.

You remove the offline reconstruction so people won't be able to generate scans without clouds and suddenly demand from them quite a bit of money for something which was free up until a month.

I respect Autodesk and just as @Dale.Bartlett I have always advertise it to people who are in doubt what software to use when generating geometry reconstructions. But this sudden change in your politics makes me feel discussed and certainly stops me from giving an advice to other people to use Autodesk products.

I genuinely think you will lose more than you will win with this bold move. Probably it will take you a year or two to figure out that your users are becoming less and less when it comes to geometry reconstruction.

I am sad to say it but I think I am moving to alternatives.

I just have applied for refund on my subscription (a complete nonsense of a function) and I wish you a corporate luck or as it might seems a painful downfall.

One last thing @critesh, just out of curiosity what will you say to defend Autodesk:

So I subscribe and I have been gained the possibility of downloading the software. I open it, great, nice then I click on its only function and I realize that I need to pay more to use its only function. What am I subscribing for? An open Autodesk tab on my desktop! Is that what I am paying 42 pounds per month for?

Please, elaborate.
