Failure to import when transferring from iPad Recap to Desktop Recap

I have a BLK360 scanned and registered project that will not import to desktop Recap Pro. Everything works fine on the iPad. It starts out importing to Recap just fine. It gets to 70% and crashes every time. I've tried restarting the iPad, restarting the computer, and even switched to another computer and updated drivers. I am able to import other projects from the iPad. Just not this one.

The project name on the iPad is "Fashion Place 1/13/18". I suspect the slashes in the file name might have something to do with the reason it keeps crashing Recap. I can't figure out a way to rename the file so I'm stuck trying to import a "bad" file name. Is there anything I can do?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community! I am not sure if you can rename project name. I would try downloading same scans from BLK360 and try syncing with ReCap Pro Desktop application again. Let me know if this helps.

Thank you and have a great day!

I am also having the same problems, Trying to transfer a project of 30 scans, and computer has been just stuck at 64% for the last two hours, I managed to transfer a project of 4 scans and a project of 12 scan (although that one got stuck at 65% for about five minutes before it continued).

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for participating in our Community! Are you downloading this data to network drive or external drive? Try downloading to local drive and make sure you have enough storage space available. Let me know if this helps.

I am having the same issue too. When importing from the iPad it freezes at 65%. I've tried importing straight to an external drive as well as straight to the local drive on the desktop and still get the same result. I also noticed that Recap's memory usage jumps to 12,000,000kb. Not sure what is causing this as I've been able to transfer similar sized projects on another workstation, which could be the problem. Anyone have any real luck with this?

My projects get stuck at 65%. I'm currently downloading a project from the IPad that contains 3 scans and it has been stuck for 30 minutes. It will eventually finish, but I have no idea what is going on during this time.

Hi guys,

We had a very similar issue, transferring 90 or so scans (BLK360) across from an ipad to recap. It bugged out at 65% (odd that this percentage keeps appearing in several posts regarding this problem). We attempted several times without success.

We then tried on a nearly identical laptop with additional ram (64gb) which transferred fine.

The transfer process does appear to use huge amounts of RAM, the resource monitor reached about 55gb of cached memory during the process.

Not sure if it this is the same problem, but have a look at what your resources are doing during the transfer. If you have alot of scans, and not much memory, this could be it.

Would be good to know what is happening during the transfer, does the entire scan get cached to RAM prior to processing?

not sure if this has been answered but we had the same issue. we took out the forward slash in the file name and it worked.

you will have to stitch together the scans under a file name without special characters and it should work

What about if you dont have the scans in BLK anymore, only in tablet. How you could rename scans in order to transfer it in desktop with out slash?

Hi there, trying to rack my memory on this as it was a while ago when I imported our last job.

In the file support folder (once imported from the tablet) can you not just rename the files?

No you csnt rename, but is there any way to transfer the files from tablet back to BLK  again?
