Error While Editing Recap files from ACC

I am getting a "Move File Failed" error from Autodesk Desktop Connector (DTC) after editing and saving a Recap Project (RCP) file.  These are the details:

  • The Recap project was published to ACC in about one month ago. The project is visible in ACC.
  • Desktop Connector 16.1.0.1935 is installed.
  • Recap Pro 2023 was used to edit the RCP file. The edits involved highlighting 'spray' points that are outside of the project scope. The 'spray' points were moved to a new region.
  • The region was deleted, and the RCP file was saved. The option to "Remove Points and Region" was selected during the save operation.
  • Recap created a new "Temporary Cache Files" folder beneath the existing "Support" folder. This folder seems to have the edited versions of the files.
  • This is where DTC seems to get 'stuck' while trying to update the .RCP.BK file in the support folder. Due to the error, Recap does not update the RCP file in ACC. Thus, the edits are not visible on ACC.

Hi @brian.k.smith

I want to assume that the problem is not related to editing (deleting points) in the project. I tried updating my project that I published on ADC version 15 and got the error too.
Most likely the problem is caused by updating ADC to version 16.
Since this update has changed the working logic (similar to OneDrive).
Most likely you will need to delete the past version of the project and publish it again.

@Maksim.Melnikov.BY Thank you for your response.   This sounds reasonable.   I believe that the scans were originally published using version 15 of Desktop Connector.   I will try again using version 16 and let you know the results.

@Maksim.Melnikov.BY : Unfortunately, using version 16 of Desktop Connector did not solve the problem.

I have been attempting to edit published version of the Recap file. My thought is that one must re-publish to the cloud from the same Recap file that was originally published to the cloud, and that that Recap file must not be on the cloud.    I am going to try this today with a Recap project that I have on my computer.

@Maksim.Melnikov.BY : Update: Recap project outside of ACC was edited and published to ACC Project.   Recap reported the publish successful and referred to Desktop Connector for status of upload. No activity in Desktop Connector.

Hi Brian,

There is a known issue when publishing project using ReCap 2023 / DC 16.0.

Please refer to following article: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/tsarticles/ts/4tHzQLafdcWGhfEmsb5eKl.html

As a workaround, you may upload the files manually to ACC, either via web interface or via Desktop Connector (Windows Explorer).

You also mentioned that you "The region was deleted, and the RCP file was saved. The option to "Remove Points and Region" was selected during the save operation."

Can you confirm that the rcs files are updated after save & optimize points (check the modified date)?

It is known issue that when you choose Publish > Update, it may not upload the updated rcs files, hence the deleted points are not reflected in ACC. So you may need to upload the rcs files manually.

Hope this helps.

Rgds,

Klarinda
