I'm brand new to Recap and it seems like exciting software but I can't get anything to work!

Can anyone direct me to a nice step by step tutorial??

Hello,

I believe that you are using the photo to mesh service? For advice on how to take great photogrammetry images, I suggest looking at our guide[1].

Unfortunately, the in-app, step-by-step documentation we have is for an older version of the application. Please give the application a shot, and remember that the Preview processing level is free—all you use is A360 Drive storage.

I'm trying to use Recap, Recap 360...is that the photo to mesh service?

when I first looked at this program it looked like something that could be very useful. 

Theoretically I could go to a rennovation sight, take a bunch of pics and come back to the office and generate a model of the existing building.

If it's this difficult to get a result, even a bad result then I think it's probably not practical..

"ReCap 360" is a currently overloaded term. The web service, which works with photos, is titled the "ReCap Photo to Mesh Service."

The desktop application, which works with point clouds, comes in different service and subscription levels. "ReCap" is the base offering, and can be upgraded to "Ultimate" to add multi-scan registration; a "ReCap 360 subscription" can be added to include publication of scan projects to the web for collaboration.

You can browse the Gallery[1] to see what others have created with the Photo to Mesh service; and be aware that aerial use is also trending.
