Autodesk ReCap, Program crashes/ does not respond when using save as

Hi,

I have recently upgraded my laptop to use autodesk recap and other programs for 3D scans.

i am experiencing issues when trying to "save as" after adjusting the limit box of the scan.

All that happens is an empty Support folder is created and then AutoDesk ReCap crashes / does not respond.

i have already changed the program settings on my graphic card manager to use the high-performance NVIDIA processor.

I would appreciate any help / solutions anyone may have.

Thank you

Hi,

Thank you for reporting issue with Autodesk ReCap.

Can you give us more information about the issue?

- What is the ReCap version?

- Can you describe in more details of what you are doing, if possible step by step to reproduce?

- Are you trying to save as to same folder or to different drive or network location?

- How big is the project? Does it have only one scan or multiple scans? Can you reproduce the issue using AutodeskReCapSampleProject?

- What windows version do you use? Is the issue reproduced before you upgraded your laptop?

Regards,

Klarinda

- Can you describe in more details of what you are doing, if possible step by step to reproduce?

i am simply trying to save a new project/file from an existing open project. same issue where i make any adjustments or not.

- Are you trying to save as to same folder or to different drive or network location? i have tried saving to the same folder, desktop, company server from where the file originates from. all cause same issue.

- How big is the project? 2 versions one is 21.2 GB the other is 27 GB Does it have only one scan or multiple scans? Multiple scans probably around 20 Can you reproduce the issue using AutodeskReCapSampleProject? im new to autodesk so i dont know what that is.

What windows version do you use? Is the issue reproduced before you upgraded your laptop?

- What windows version do you use? 10 Is the issue reproduced before you upgraded your laptop? I have only just started using autodesk and this is the first time i have tried editing and saving a new project as was sent the file from the scanning company.

Thank you for your quick reply.

AutodeskReCapSampleProject.rcp can be found in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Autodesk ReCap\Sample.

Can you try to open AutodeskReCapSampleProject.rcp and try to save as?

Hi,

When the program crashes, does it show the following error report dialog?

Can you submit the report and we can analyze from there?

crash dialog sample.png

I still can't reproduce the crash during Save As in my machine.

It will be helpful if you can try to reproduce it using a smaller project, such as AutodeskReCapSampleProject.rcp found in C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Autodesk ReCap\Sample.

If you can provide the video it will be better.

Regards,

Klarinda

Hi,

I do not get an error message, the program doesn't respond so i have to shut it down.

I have just managed to edit the sample file and save it to my desktop successfully.

I also opened it again to ensure it saved correctly, which it did.

The large file i am having issues with is on my company server connect via VPN which may be causing me an issue when i try to alter the file as files are not directly on my computer. Therefore i am currently downloading the files onto my computer to see if this solves the issue.

Thank you for your continued support.

Hi,

I have solved my issue, it wasn't an issue with the software it was because i was trying to modify a large file which was on my company server whist working from home. i re downloaded the file onto an external hard drive so the data file was local and this then enabled me to modify and save a new file with out any issues.

Thank you for your support.

Hi,

When I open AutodeskReCapSampleProject.rcp Recap Crashes after it acquires the license....

That Autodesk error report does not even open to allow me to submit the report, just frozen and when clicking on the app I get a message that the application is not responding.

This was exactly my issue. I had my files on an external and was trying to export to my m.2 ssd. Once I migrated my files all to the m.2 ssd, it worked immediately.

Thank you so much!!
