HP600 plot speed

I have prepared a typical drawing with all the colors, shading (0%, 10% and
20%), fonts ...
that we use in our company. It takes about a minute to start plotting with
R14 and
over two minutes with A2K.
Here is some information about our system:
. We have a HP600 (Code Rev 3.3, 20MB) connected to a printer server
(w95)
. Stations are W95/W98
. I installed the plotupdate from the Autodesk web site.
. I installed the most current hp system driver (v4.22)
. For r14 I use virtual pens and hpconfig to set line weights and
shading (screening)
. For A2K I switched to software to control that. The reason for that
is that I got square line ends instead
of the more customary round line ends. How can I change that if I am
using virtual pens? looks like it is the default for R14. With
the software setting I can control that in the color plot style (ctb).
I think that the R14 driver converts all the vectors to raster data and then
send it to the plotter. But A2K send vectors to the plotter and the plotter
has to convert them to raster information and then process the raster data.
How can I force A2K or the optimized HP driver to send only raster data to
the plotter.

Thanks in advance for any help.

If you go to the Advanced tab of Custom Properties in the PC3 Editor,
you can select "Process in Computer" to force everything to be
rasterized in the computer. R14 didn't do this.

Tim. thanks for the reply. I tried your suggestion and the plotter begins
to work right away but the plotter works real slow. Any other suggestion?

Tim:
I've also noticed the slow processing with our HP 600 - I'll also give this
a try.
Thanks!

Carlos:
Have you been able to plot thin lines (say .001") with the HP 600 and A2K?

Yes, I set the pen weight to 0.000 in the plot style This is using the
"software" pen setting in the plotter front panel.
The plotter will plot the thinnest it can.
