Reactivating AutoCAD 2012

My computer updated to Windows 10 and uninstalled my Autodesk 2012.  Now when I try and reinstall it will not allow me to reactivate it says the serial number I entered is not valid.  I have the serial number and product code.  Can someone from Autodesk help me fix this.

Hello lehmco and welcome to the Autodesk community!

It looks like you're getting an "Invalid Serial Number” message or having trouble with your product key while trying to register and activate your Autodesk software. The following article(s) should help you resolve the problem:

Click Top reasons why you may get a Serial Number Error during Activation

And check Error: "Invalid serial number" (standalone activation)

For product key information: Finding Serial Numbers & Product Keys

If you’re having an issue with your product key, please make sure that you are using the correct one for your product (especially if your product comes from a suite). Finally, you should type then numbers and letters in. We do not recommend copy/paste.

If you are still having issues activating your product, you may visit our Activation Contact Us page and submit your inquiry there.

Welcome to the community...

First of all,  this is mainly a peer to peer network where users are assisting other users like yourself.  Although Autodesk does monitor these forums, it doesn't mean they will see and/or respond to your issue in a timely fashion.

Most likely the history of this serial # has been used to upgrade to newer version (thus the invalid serial #).  So its unlikely you will be able to activate this retired/unsupported version.  In addition AutoCAD 2012 will have problems under WIndows 10.  But you can use the chat option per this link New: Get an Activation Code and see if an Autodesk Agent will be able to assist you.

Hello @Anonymous,

Sorry to hear you are having an issue activating your AutoCAD 2012, on Windows 10. Using the product on a new unsupported system may not work but you can give it a try.

Activation Tips

-Before activating your product, be sure the Serial Number you are using matches the product, product release, and the type of license you have purchased.

-Be sure to type the serial number & product key, green check marks should appear

-Request an Activation Code from registeronce.autodesk.com Once you receive your activation code copy the activation code and paste it in the 1st field box.

Please report back! Smiley Happy

Thank you for the help but unfortunately when I take the steps to manually
activate it tells me my serial code is not valid even though it does prompt
a green check mark.

Thank You,
