Super nurbs settings

We just bought a new okuma genos 460 ax with super nurbs, but we are having a lot of problems making smooth surfaces doing 5ax simultaneously work. We think it’s over point distribution and the supernurbs setting that’s not set perfect.
do anyone have any experience with power mill and okuma supernurbs. ?

Who did you get the post from? I would assume that if you have either paid for the post or been given the post from your reselller, they would be the people to contact for this.

Best thing to do is get your Powermill supplier and machine supplier together to come up with a soltion for your machine.

I havent persoannly done any benchmarks on these machines but I know our post team has had their hand in developing a post for the Genos machine.

We ran into the same issue with the supernurbs on our okuma mills.  There is no one magic setting that makes things smooth for all jobs across the board.  It really depends on what your cutting and the speeds/finishes you are trying to achieve.  I would first suggest increasing your point distribution and re-run the same toolpath again and see how that affects things.  When it comes to supernurbs the more points you have in powermill the easier the okuma control can create a smoother path when using supernurbs.  Also try changing your smoothness setting in your posted code from "J1" to "J2" on the supernurbs call line. Example: G131 F300. J2 E0.001 D0.0005.
