Slow Transitions Between Different Toolpath Strategies

Some of our workstations are experiencing painfully slow transitions between different toolpath strategies. (For example: when going from a Model Area Clearance to a Deep Drill strategy) Sometimes it takes well over 30 seconds to open another existing toolpath strategy.  However, this isn't the true on all workstations, we have several.  Our IT department can't figure it out.  Can anyone point me in the right direction or what settings to check?  Thanks

Workstations are up to date using PowerMill 2021.1.1

Yes we noticed it also, almost painful when in a hurry. I wish they would fix it, it's very slow this build, 2021.

Seems to be an old issue, happens on some PC's only. See attachment.

Update your graphics driver, set the manage 3D setting to 3D app - Visual Simulation.

Empty your %TEMP% directory.

Shut off anti virus.

Ensure you have full permission under the Windows account.

Jonathan,

Where do I find this "set the manage 3D setting to 3D app - Visual Simulation"?

I haven't been able to find that specific setting on my video card settings or anywhere else.

Open the NVIDIA Control Panel and go to the manage 3D setting.

Can they pause the virus scan so that you can test this?

The two biggest problems that I find that are difficult to diagnose are virus scanners and Windows user permissions.

The  scanner can slow or block PowerMill from accessing files on the C drive. If this is the problem, you will need IT to add PowerMill to the scanners white list. This doesn't always work and sometimes you just need to swap out the virus scanner with something that is compatible.

As for user permissions, you can test this by having IT log you in as admin. Test to see if it fixes the slow downs. If it does, they need to grant the user permissions to the PowerMill directory on the C drive.
