Print Screen options in Powermill 2019

What happened to being able to choose whether the print screen function places the image in the top, or center etc of the page?

In Powermill 2018, after you clicked on print, another popup would ask you whether you want the white background, and location of the image on the paper among other things.

There is no such popup on Powermill 2019.

I've included a screendump of the popup that normally comes up.

Hi@Anonymous

I see that you are visiting as a new member.Welcome to Autodesk Community!

It looks like you ar facing issue while printing PowerMill Project with white background and location of the image.

In PowerMill 2018 or 2019 default printing background is white. These functions are mainly depends on printer preference or properties.

I have attached snapshots of Pdf Printer & Printer samples which gives you proper printing inside PowerMill.

I would like to suggest to use any PDF printer application or change your printer properties.

Please accept the solution button if my post fully solves your issue or reply with additional details if the problem persists.

Are you sure you get this popup in PM2018 when clicking File - Print?
I'm still on PM2018 and don't get the popup you mentioned.

Hello, and thanks for the responses.

Please see the attached pic from my original post.

This pic was taken using Powermill 2018, as I still have it installed on my PC.

This is the standard popup that's been available ever since I remember...allowing you to choose the white background, and where to position the image on the screen.

Yes, it's gone - we intentionally removed it.  If I recall correctly, we removed it for 2019, but possibly we patched the removal into later versions of 2018.

We removed it for several reasons:

a) It really shouldn't be there - any print options that are useful should be on the print preview page of the Backstage View (i.e. File menu) - otherwise it's not really a print preview at all.  Microsoft products (e.g. Word) certainly don't show you a separate options box AFTER you've clicked print on a print preview page.

b) Many of the options on that form duplicated options on the print preview page.

c) Many of the options on that form simply didn't work.

d) With certain printers (including Microsoft's 'Print to PDF' printer - a very common usage), the dialog got all corrupted.

e) The majority of users wouldn't wish to print without a white background, so having the option seemed pointless.

We appreciate that there might be options on this form that users did indeed use - if that's the case, we'll certainly consider adding them back in to PowerMill, but as part of the print preview page, which is where they should live.  Please be specific though, and state why you need it.  Thanks.

Thanks Peter,

The only thing that I'm really interested is to be able to position the screen dump on the center of the page, as was available in 2018. Obviously having a white background suits most everyone just fine.

So how to get the image in the center of the page then? Use a separate software to take a screen image?
