Hey There,

Long story, but started working at a place with an old copy pf Powermill Version 6, I think. I am running a VF4 with a HRT 210  4th axis.  I need the multi-axis post for a HAAS or Fanuc,  Can someone give me this old post or where can I buy it? Sort of at a loss here.

I am sure they are not planning on buying any new software, so I gotta do with what I have. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thank you,

Jim

Search youtube for creating 4 axis post processor.  You will find good videos showing how to edit generic 3 axis post to a 4 axis.

Thank you for the advice.

I tried to open the post processor "editor" and its says I need a licence for that.

Does someone not have a Post I can purchase?

Thanks,

Jim

There are many Autodesk resellers that you can purchase a 4 axis post from, but typically we resellers only support the modern post engine and not duct posts (.opt files) so you may be out of luck.

You can get away with a 3 axis post and just use multiple workoffsets with the same XYZ, and just manually put in a different A axis angle for each offset. Or you can write a program header that uses G10 lines to do set the angles for you. You can also use main and sub programs where the sub programs are just the posted 3 axis code, and in the main program you manually write the code to rotate the A axis, and handle and transitions between rotations. Either way it'll be some manual editing if you use a 3 axis post.

There are also some help documents that get installed with duct post that may be of help, but they can be hard to understand if you don't have a background in coding/post writing. I am not sure if you'll have these with PowerMill 6, but this is the file path for the help documents with the version of duct post I have installed "C:\Program Files\Delcam\DuctPost 1.6.10\file\help" so I'd see if you can find something in there to help guide you on how to edit your post.
