Hi All,
I have an ABB IRB6400R robot, and I need to create a post processor for it, can you please help me with this? do you have instructions manual or tutorial on how to do so? what are the steps to achieve it without errors?
Do I need to use the Manufacturing Post Processor Utility?
I also heard about something called machine option file, do I need to create it?
Would appreciate your help,
Thanks,
Jasper
Hi @Anonymous,
Welcome to Autodesk Community.
First of all I would like to tell you that PowerMill Robot Plugin post processor are different from regular PowerMill Post file and it is called PRI post file.
PowerMill Robot have standard set of Post file, you can use that for testing purpose and doing minor changes according to your requirement you can use that file for taking output.
To take output we will need to create Robot MTD file because without MTD it is not possible to take output.
I have attached PowerMill Robot - PostProcessors.pdf for your reference.
I will suggest you go through help files of PowerMill Robot, it have all the information that you are looking.
Hope this information helps.
Hi,
I have read the question of Jasper.Elli2019, and I do have some questions about it:
1- So for PowerMILL robot we don't use machine option file? we use robot post processors instead?
2- The post processors that came with PowrMILL 2018 are "DuctPost" as indicated in the software, so do you have alternatives? direct download links for the update? because can't write out an NC program for the current situation.
Highly appreciate your help,
Thanks
Hi Rasem2019,
For PM Robot we use PRIpost files as the post files, they are XML files and can be edited to suit your requirements.
I attach a pdf document that explains how to open the Robot specific help files, installed with PM Robot.
Here you will find a pdf document that explains how the post works, "PowerMill Robot - PostProcessors".
"PowerMill Robot - Training Manual" pdf details all menus of PM Robot, look at page 32 to see how to edit/change post selection.
I recommend you install NotePad++ and select xml as language so it is easier to see the syntax.
The default installed posts have all been tested and approved so you can just use those as your starting point.
I hope this answer's your questions.
Alex
Thank you so much for your answer, I'm just wondering why I'm getting error while writing the NC program, as shown in the attached image.
Appreciate your help,
Hi Rasem2019
The error you are getting is a PM message.
All it is saying is that the post you are using "DuctPost" is no longer supported. So it recommends an upgrade to the latest Post processor utility.
PM Robot does not use PM NC program, or PM post processors. So unless you are generating a NC program from PM to run on a machine tool, you are doing it in the wrong area.
I recommend you go through the doc "PowerMill Robot - Training Manual" pdf, page 42
I hope this helps.
Hi,
There is no such training.
We have one document that explains the structure of the PriPost file.
Open C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Autodesk PowerMill Robot Plugin 2019\Help
This folder contains all PM Robot training material, and here you can look at"PowerMill Robot - PostProcessors.pdf".
This contains a brief explanation of the contents of the PriPost file.
I recommend you study it and make appropriate changes to PRIPost file and post process to see the changes.
I hope this helps.
Hi Alexandre
Beside editing/changing post processors for Robots, Is there any manual for learning how to edit or modify usual CNC milling machines posts processors?
Our machine has a Heidenhain TNC355 controller on it, the post for this controller doesn't exist in the Generic folder of powermill 2018, there is a Heidenhain generic in this folder but it is not compatible with TNC355.
Thank a lot
Mohammad
