Heidenhain M118 - Faster?

Hey folks,

I've been doing manual offsets within powermill for blending,(ie. thickness).

I've heard of a way to use a sort of on the fly offset on a heidenhain but I can't seem to figure out how to get it working properly.

Is this method of using the M118 code faster? And if so, does anyone have any knowledge on how to get it to work properly.

If it helps, my controllers are TNC530's.

Thanks in advance!

Our machinist uses it for 3 axis. For 3+2 machining you need a setting turned on in the controller (not sure what it is) or else it will just revert to 3 axis.

I tried inputting the M118 into the program, but it won't allow me to adjust with the handwheel at all.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong. It is only a 3axis so I don't have to worry about that.

This blending method seems to be faster than my current method, I would really like to get it to work.

Thanks

Show a screenshot of what that current line looks like when you enter M118

Here is one of the programs posted with the M118 attached to the program.

Thanks.

Once you enter the M118, scroll over to the XYZAC and enter values of how much you want to move. This has to be implemented by the machine tool builder, it also depends on what handwheel you have.

Turns out our builder never activated it in the parameters.

Thank you.
