Exporting digital model.

Hi,

I've got a detailed contour model that we're planning to machine as a solid and then cover with lasercut veneer. However, the map is much more detailed than we can machine and so the veneer will be much more intricate than the substrate. Is there a way of exporting an accurate digital model of what will be machined, that we can then use a basis for the veneer? I've tried exporting the Viewmill model as an STL, but it's really blocky when imported back into Rhino.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Rich.

I export my stock models as stl or dmt after applying my toolpaths to them. those look way better than the viewmill models. it depends on how fine your step over is and your tolerance when you create the stock model. you can end up with a large file, but the detail will be good

That's the job. Never had to generate a stock model before. Every day is a school day.

It worked for a sample, just to to hope that my PC is man enough to work out the full A0 sized model now.

Many thanks.
