Drilling and pecking 2017

Hello

Thank you for entering in my post

I am trying to make 2 holes for M3 tap using the 2017 version with the following parameters

Depth 2.5holes 8mm

Depth M3 threads 6mm

Peck 1mm

Surface coordinate -5

Clearance 2

I manage to create the toolpath but for some reason it is not pecking

Any suggestion will be very appreciative

Thank you very much in advance for your support

Why don't we see your project including your drilling toolpath here? That helps us find if your problem is related to the used kind of strategy and parameters or the post file.

You should activate your toolpath and have a look at its options (may be also attach a "print screen" of it 😞 Check the operation type and make sure that you have selected the correct one.

A few things, but note that I don't do a lot of drilling in PowerMill.

You have "define top by" set to Hole top, so Start should be set to 0 I think.

After changing that, it drills the hole for me and peck drills down to depth.

You are using a user defined cycle 1.  I usually use Deep Drill cycle to retract out of the hole on each peck.

Good luck

Now seems working fine: the drill starts and finish where i want, but does not do full retraction even though i did select "full retraction"

Did you switch to deep drill cycle?

If it is not correct on the screen, then you use the wrong option.

If it is OK on the screen, but not on the machine, then or the cycle is not defined correctly in your PostProcessor or your machine does not support it.
