then i save templat and in another project i imported the template, import the model and now i insert a geometry in the patter of "profile patter 2d " strategy

when i clic "insert model in the active pattern" powermill send this message : pattern is locked !!!

i solved only edit toolpath and in the combobox " curve definition " i select nothing, then selection  geometry , insert in the pattern re-edit toolpath and select relative pattern !!! but all is very frustrating

Be careful when you save out the template..

If you are saving out the pattern with the template, then the strategy will expect the pattern..

Are you looking to create a new pattern, or modify the existing one?

What happens if you right click over the pattern, and select "unlock pattern"?

Try to save the strategy without a selected pattern OR at least make a new pattern and select that one before calculating.

Unfortunately that's the way it works.

I also use 2d Pattern profile.

The pattern is locked to the tool path even when the tool path is un calculated.

Only way I have found to edit the pattern is to first remove it from the tool path , which is what you appear to be doing.

I don't normally have your problem because I don't give the tool path a pattern until the pattern has some data.

Then its loaded into the tool path and calculated.

All done with Macro's .

Unfortunately occasionally the DXF that I load into the pattern can be messed up. Then I have to manually do the above.

It is not a bug, it was intended that way for some "historical" reason...

Anyway, having the same problem very often, I suggest that invalidating the corresponding toolpath should be sufficient to be able to edit the pattern.

I will open an improvement request, because this behaviour is really a big loss of time for nothing and it should not be a big job to unlock a pattern.

Well, I meant with "I suggest that invalidating the corresponding toolpath should be sufficient to be able to edit the pattern" that it should be the case, but it is not with the actual software version.
